Anchored Hermeneutics: Observation - What do I see?

Observation: Your eyes are the most important tool for studying the Bible. They allow you to observe what is in the passage. Here are 4 ways you can make good observations:

First, we interrogate the text.

Second, we made observations by looking for things emphasized.

Third, we made observations by looking for keywords.

Fourth we looked for figures of speech.

By putting these together we are able to observe what is in front of us with a more careful eye. As Howard Hendricks said, “the quality of your interpretation will always depend on the quality of your observation.”
