Our oceans are so vast and mysterious that we probably have no idea of even half of what lives there. What we do know is that many mind-blowing deep-sea creatures exist, and the Megalodon was one of them. Many have claimed they still exist, and today we will be diving into ten sightings that may prove the mega-shark's existence.
Number 10. An Unverified Attack
Let's start things off not with an actual sighting but with the possible outcome of a close encounter with a megalodon. A few years ago, a photo surfaced on the internet showing a beached whale. While seeing a beached whale is already strange in itself, there's something that sets this event apart from the rest. The whale's entire tail is missing, and it looks like it's been bitten off by something large.
The most compelling thing about the photo is that you can clearly see bite marks around where the tail should have been. Now, this is a 70-foot humpback whale, one of the largest animals in the oceans, who could have done such a thing? While it is true that Orcas or killer whales have a habit of hunting and feeding on whales, it isn't known whether they can take on a whale of this size. Plus, experts believe that the tail was shorn off in one bite. The only animal with the size and strength to possibly do this is, you've guessed it, the mighty Megalodon.

Number 9. Unusually young teeth
This is yet another sighting that would do a good job convincing you that the Megalodon is somewhere in the depths of the sea. This one has to do with the HMS Challenger; a former small British warship converted into the first dedicated oceanographic ship. It had its microscopes, laboratories, and other scientific equipment onboard. The scientists' duty was to discover new animal species, especially those that live at the bottom of the sea.
While dredging a sea bed in Tahiti in 1875, they found a pair of megalodon teeth. After analysis, they realized it was between 10,000-15,000 years old, contrary to beliefs that this animal went extinct over 1.5 million years ago. If this discovery is anything to go by, it means that this animal has lived far longer than scientists thought. If they existed 10,000 years ago, the chances of roaming around the world's oceans would be high. The only challenge is finding and filming them.

Number 8. The Google Map Sighting
Some people make Google Maps surfing a hobby, which is weird, but thanks to them, we have many weird things to look at on the internet. Some are easily explainable, like glitches on the photo or simple misidentification of objects, like in a fairly recent viral photo, which many believed to be proof of the Kraken, turned out to be just a rock. But some cases can't simply be explained by conventional thinking.
This reportedly shows a Google Map image in the Bahamas. In it, you can clearly show the silhouette of an unusually large fish. We know it's largely because these images are taken by satellites orbiting the earth, so an animal that would have registered on the image must be massive. Could it be a whale shark? Of course, it could be, but if you look closely, there's something quite a bit off with the shape of the animal for it to be a whale shark. Of course, it is a bit premature to declare this to be a megalodon, but if you come up with other possibilities, I'm all ears. Of course, there's the "doctored photo" explanation, which is also highly likely. But, in the remotest of chances that this google map image wasn't faked, is it still safe to swim in the Bahamas?

Number 7. The Beast of Brazil.
Seven years ago, the discovery channel aired a video during their annual shark week program of a rescue attempt by a group of coastguards off the coast of Brazil. The video showing an aerial view of the rescue process also caught something in the shadows - a very massive aquatic animal. If you look very closely, you will find it at the top right corner of the video. The scientists purportedly shown in the video claimed that such a big animal could only have been a megalodon owing to its appearance and the size of the disturbance it caused in the water. However, the disturbance is quite unnoticeable, and the quality of the video makes it hard to say with confidence what really lurked in the water back there.
