On June 6th, American, Canadian and British soldiers attacked 5 beaches in Normandy, France to breach the German defensive line, the Atlantic Wall. German General Rommel was defending this line. American General Eisenhower was the supreme commander of the allied forces. While the British commander, General Montgomery, led the ground troops. The targeted beaches were called Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. But the Germans put up a heavy resistance. Outcome of this battle would decide the fate of the Third Riech.
