The British Meat Processors Association has said that their sector in order to get around the problem of a lack of butchers are exporting produce to Ireland and the Netherlands (the EU), having it processed there, and then reimporting it for sale to British supermarkets. This, while a solution to a problem that Brexit created, means higher costs to both the consumer and the environment. Industry has been abandoned by the Brexit government so we should expect to see this take place for other sectors in the future.
