Victoria warns once COVID enters a household the ‘attack rate’ is ‘exceptionally high’

Victoria’s COVID-19 Response Commander Jeroen Weimar is warning of the “aggressive” nature of the coronavirus outbreak as exposure sites in the state rise to more than 500 with 13,000 primary close contacts isolating.

Mr Weimar said of the 25 new cases reported on Sunday, 10 were associated with household members from Al-Taqwa College.

“Particularly two families, one a family of six and one a family of three, all with positive cases in the household and one further household member of a student,” he said.

“It highlights how aggressive this virus is when it gets into your community, when it gets into your household, the attack rate of this virus is exceptionally high.”
