The Census Bureau released new data that shows the nation's population grew by 7.4% over the past decade, the smallest amount since the 1930s. The South and West of the nation saw the largest gains, and as states redraw their congressional district, some will gain while others will lose seats in the House. The white percentage of the population declined by about 6 points, and there were significant increases with the Hispanic population. Family Research Council Action Vice President Brent Keilen says in California hispanics now make the largest voting block in the state. States gaining congressional seats include Texas adding 2 House seats, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, Oregon and Montana adding 1 seat. Keilen notes it is not just about the census numbers, both sides are looking at the upcoming 2022 election. Some experts believe that control might be enough for Republicans to take back 5 House seats and gain the majority. Several Democratic strongholds and battleground states are losing a seat. These include California, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio and West Virginia. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
