A cafe in central Tokyo is using robots to serve customers. But they’re not being controlled by anyone at the cafe. Instead, disabled staff are directing them remotely. The robots - all named OriHime - feature cameras, a microphone and a speaker to allow their controllers to communicate with customers, without having to interact with anyone face to face. The cafe has provided 50 jobs to people with mental and physical disabilities, allowing them to work remotely.
