This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2022 Chevrolet Bolt. This is the updated 2022 new Bolt with more style, features and a much lower starting price. There is just one trim available in Canada and two in the US, the Bolt EV has a starting price of $38,198 CAD for the LT trim. In the US, it starts at $31,000 USD for 1LT and $34,200 USD for 2LT. It qualifies for both Federal and Provincial rebates (where available) in Canada and rebates in the US. What’s new to the exterior? The 2022 Bolt gets a new hood, front and rear fascias, slimmer LED headlights, taillights and a new wheel design making this EV look sportier and sleeker. It has a 66 kWh battery with an electric motor, 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. It gets up to 417 km/259 miles of EV range; it goes 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and is FWD only. For fuel economy, the Bolt gets 1.8Le/100km, 131 MPGe in the city and 2.2Le/100km, 109 MPGe. There is also a Bolt EUV available which we hope to review soon. It has a starting price of $40,198 CAD/$33,000 USD.Here’s some good news, Chevrolet will cover standard installation of a Level 2 charging outlet for customers who buy or lease a 2022 Bolt EV or EUV. The offer gives customer’s access to faster charging exactly where they want it, at home, making it less expensive to go electric. The Bolt has an 11.5 kW Level 2 charging capability and standard DC fast charging capability. A Level 2 charging outlet (240 V) can charge up to 62 km of range per hour of charge and a full charge within approximately 7 hours. A DC Fast charging outlet can charge up to 160 km of range in 30 minutes.

The Lightning Bolt! Inspired by Usain Bolt and his signature pose. Although, we won’t see him at the Olympics this year his celebration pose lives on.

The Chevrolet Bolt may not be the fastest EV out there, it is still quick going 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and is priced just right at $38,198 CAD/$31,000 USD. The fuel economy is also impressive at 1.8Le/100km, 131 MPGe in the city and 2.2Le/100km, 109 MPGe on the highway.

What’s new to the interior in the 2022 Bolt? I feel the biggest improvement overall is in the cabin. Consumers complained about how the seats were uncomfortable and there was too much hard plastic. Chevrolet listened improving the comfort level of the seats and added soft touch fabric and surfaces rather than hard plastic.

The new interior design includes a standard 8” instrument panel, a 10.2” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay & Android Auto, a new cloth interior with sporty accents, a new sport inspired flat bottom heated steering wheel, heated front seats, 8-way power driver’s seat and a manual passenger seat. There’s a new electronic gear shift design that uses pull toggles and push buttons to free up more interior space. The traditional shifter is gone and to be honest, I am a little disappointed about that.

For increased regenerative breaking, there’s a new one-pedal driving button that keeps the system active between drive cycles. Sport mode, traction control and lane keep assist buttons are above.

Chevrolet Safety Assist comes standard and includes, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert & blind spot monitoring.
