The Man of Me (RB3 version) predicament

The Man of Me (RB3 version) predicament

Full disclosure, here: Rock Central appears to be down at the moment, so I can't be 100% certain that this even still applies, as I noticed the phenomenon quite a while ago, but I still wanted to talk about it a little bit.

Most hard FCs in Rock Band have historically been done on the Xbox 360 version of the game. It's where the largest install base is, and it's the only console where all of the content was made available. Hell, the sheer depth of the song library allowed some charts to slip out undocumented on YouTube at all for years! So it stands to reason that the Xbox 360 leaderboards are the most "complete" display of what has been done out of any version of the game. But that's not to say that nothing of substance ever came from the PS3 and Wii versions of the game; I started on PS3, myself, after all. And when you combine a few different elements of making a song undesirable to go for an FC of, you get something like "Man of Me (RB3 version)" on Pro Keys.

Over the years, fewer and fewer songs have managed to retain their "1 FC" status. And as long as people continue to play these games, the number of charts that stay done only once (or never) will continue to decrease. But there's a few things that make people just not want to even bother. If the song sucks, people don't wanna hear it over and over again. If the chart has a few weird spots that are unlikely to be hit within a few tries without dedicated practice, obviously that's a pain to deal with. And when it comes to certain releases, nobody ever bothered to give the song a look in the first place. Seemingly against all odds, "Man of Me (RB3 version)" on Pro Keys is still a member of the "1 FC" club, but perhaps even more fascinating is that it's a part of the very strange "unFC'd on Xbox 360" club. Such a distinction is nonexistent on every standard instrument -- everything that's been done on guitar/bass/drums/keys/vocals has been also done on Xbox 360 -- but with the niche that is RB3's Pro Mode, this happens every once in a while. The best pro keys player and some of the best pro guitar players started on PS3, and not everything that was done back then was replicated on this console.

I've brought this song in particular up before because of its nonexistent notoriety; nobody really wants to hear about anything relating to CTP2 in the first place, much less actually play it... especially on pro keys. It's a bloated pack of bad songs, and this is one of the most forgettable from a musical standpoint in an already disinteresting set. I kinda doubt anybody has seriously attempted this FC since mazegeek999 knocked it out at the start of 2013. This chart has a lot of annoying miss points that are tough to learn, and it's not even fun to play at all. Grace notes just suck in general on pro keys, and this song has tons of them. Plus, bits like 0:29, 1:02, 2:15, and 3:22 are just so obnoxious and not worth the trouble. And that's the problem; clearly, everybody else has come to the same conclusion.

If somebody wants to knock this one out on Xbox 360 for good measure, that'd be pretty cool. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a reach for me, lol. There are a few stragglers like this one still amongst the weeds and drivel on pro keys, still undone on the Xbox 360 version of the game. If the leaderboards come back online before my summer ends maybe I'll try to hunt down some others and provide some insight.

Can't wait to hear that apparently someone reFC'd this since the last time I checked the leaderboard or something lmao let's hope not I don't wanna look like a dunce
