Orientation session for students and faculties by Innovation Ambassadors || DIT Startup Policy

Time: 1:00 PM onwards

Objective:
Discussion regarding various modules of DIT Incubation and Start up Policy prepared on the basis of National Innovation Start-up Policy, Ministry of Education.

Brief Discussion of The Session:
The Session was started by Ms. Divya Saini by introducing all the Innovation Ambassadors.
The session was taken forward by Mr. U.C Agrawal, he explained the purpose of the session and briefed the participants about the DIT Incubation and startup policy. The role of this policy is not only for DIT University but across Uttarakhand and near by areas.

Further, Dr. Neeraj Sethiya explained about the importance of DIT Innovation and Startup policy and various modules relating to Faculties, Students and Staff. The role of Innovation Ambassadors include promotion of creativity among students as well as faculties of DIT University and vicinity. DIT Innovation start-up policy was framed as per the guidelines of National innovation Start-up Policy..

Dr. Anurag then discussed about:
Strategies and Governance
• DIT University will be the driving force in developing entrepreneurship culture in its vicinity.
Start-up enabling DIT University Infrastructures
• Pre-incubation/ incubation facility will be accessible to students, staffs and faculty.
• DIT Innovation foundation, which is a separate entity registered under section-8 of Companies Act 2013.
Nurturing innovation and start-ups
• Student entrepreneurs will be allowed to DIT for examination even if their attendance is less than the minimum permissible percentage, with due permission from Director CIIES and pro Vice chancellor, DIT University.

When DIT University faculties / funds are used substantially or when IPR is developed as a part of curriculum academic activity, IPR is to be jointly owned by Inventors and the DIT University.
A performance matrix will be developed and used for evaluation of annual performance.

Further Mr. Gopal continued following clauses of DIT innovation and startup policy :
Creating Innovation pipeline and pathway for Entrepreneurs at University Level
• Networking events must be organized to create a platform for the budding entrepreneurs to meet Investors and pitch their ideas.
Norms for Faculty startups
• Faculty startup may consist of faculty members alone or with students or with faculty of other institutes or with alumni or with other entrepreneurs.
Pedagogy and Learning Interventions for Entrepreneurship Development
• DIT University will start annual 'INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD' to recognize outstanding ideas, successful enterprises and contributors .
Collaboration, Co-creation, Business Relationships and Knowledge Exchange
• DIT University will Develop Policy and guidelines for forming and managing the relationships with external stakeholders including private industries.
Entrepreneurial Impact Assessment
• Impact Assessment will be performed regularly for the support system provided by DIT University to the students entrepreneurs, faculty and staff for Pre-Incubation.

Then, Mr. Ravi Kumar discussed about Innovation and Entrepreneurship club of DIT University:
• Is your brain floated with the ideas?
• Do you want to surrounded yourself with innovative people ?
• Do you think you are a problem solver ?
• Do you feel yourself different by the crowd ?
He told that the CIIES Student Club is the answer to all such questions. He further explained about the working process in CIIES how this club provides many opportunities for learning and experience to implement and working on skills development.
The session was concluded by addressing the queries of the participants and with a vote of thanks to speakers and all the participants.
