Heavy rains and floods that hit western Germany have claimed the lives of at least nine people and about fifty missing, police said.
The city of Hagen has been particularly hit by extreme weather, which has caused the worst flooding in a century.
Residents are shocked.
“I have not seen this in my 68 years. Scary, ”said a local resident.
The streets in Hagen are completely flooded.
Cars float on water like ships.
Several buildings collapsed under the influence of water.
The local nursing home has been evacuated.
In some parts of the city, the electricity was cut off.
Federal highway 54 is closed.
Mud masses were also washed out onto the road from the slopes, so many sections turned out to be impassable.
The fire department received hundreds of emergency calls.
The police urged the local population to stay at home and also imposed a ban on the entry of strangers into the city.
